Hey TFP, I was inside tbs's room last night and heard the majority of your conversation with the atheists. Unfortunately, the way everybody handled themselves deviated a large majority of the discussion from directly engaging anybody's questions/disputes. I'm not sure how often you use "Stickam", but if you happen to have the extra time I would really like to hear the criteria you use that allows you to distinguish between an existing god and a nonexisting god (I am aware that you have said such an absolute standard for all things doesn't exist- or you don't believe one exists, so specifically within the context of the existence of a deity). I have no interest in deconversions, I am simply a man with too much thought hoping to get in a good discussion.

It has been clear, for a very long time, that there are scores of atheists and muslims who would love to see you deconvert from Christ. For most, I'm sure their intent is not in any way malicious but in fact they like you very much and in their view, their attempts at deconverting you are based on a benevolent genuine concern for your well being. Others, I am sure, would view any successful attempt at deconverting (or, de-virgining, for that matter) the Great TogetherForPeace as a highly prized personal Trophy of outstanding achievement. Maybe by now they realize you are too smart to fall for that...and too stubbornly holding to Christ...which of course is a powerful testimony not of your own power to keep you in faith but of HIS power to keep you. Just look at how great His love is, Jack, that He has kept you standing firm. This is not your doing. It is His doing. You may strive, daily, but really it is He who has kept you. I hope you think of it that way, and as you do, I hope you sense how great His love is for you!
And btw, yeah I do repeat myself :) and yeah its because I'm retarded ..lol.. :) and you of all people (since I am one of those that helped build up these stickam rooms from way back a long time ago) do happen to know just how retarded I really am but guess what, Jesus loves me anyway, He loves me just the way I am... and all the people who come here, He loves them just the way they are... every now and then I just have to stop for a moment and think about that. The King loves me just the way I am. Its amazing. He loves me, with all my flaws which are too numerous to count...He loves me, even with all the ways I bring dishonor to His name..this is beyond my ability to comprehend..that He would love a one so undeserving as I. I can't explain the way He came to love me, except to say that nothing is beyond Him. I hope to somehow convey this great Love to others here. I'm not sure that I really know how, since there really are no words, but, I'll still try. Do you think about that? That the Perfect Son of a Holy and Just God loves us? Us?? Why?? Seriously. It brings tears to my eyes sometimes. Ok, not sometimes...often.
Your rooms attract the most interesting people! Thank you for pushing yourself when the physical challenge of narcolepsy starts to grab hold of you. I have no doubt there are many people who feel the same way I do, we are glad you open up the room, it lets us all have some fun. If you get drowsy just go to sleep, we won't care. :) But mute yourself so we won't hear you snore, ok?
Hey there little brother,
Let me know if you ever do chats earlier in the evening. I'm on PST like you are, but I get up really early in the morning (5am!) :)
There was something I had found that made it look as though Paul refers to Zeus in scripture.
Epimenides' poem Cretica is quoted twice. In the poem, Minos addresses Zeus:
They fashioned a tomb for thee, O holy and high one--
The Cretans, always liars, evil beasts, idle bellies!
But thou art not dead; thou livest and abidest forever,
FOR IN THEE WE LIVE AND MOVE AND HAVE OUR BEING. (caps my emphasis - this was quoted by Paul)
Aratus had prestige among hellenistic poets. He was also cited in the Acts 17:28,
Paul quotes the fifth line of Aratus's poem Phaenomena:
Let us begin with Zeus, whom we mortals never leave unspoken.
For every street, every market-place is full of Zeus.
Even the sea and the harbour are full of this deity.
Everywhere everone is indebted to Zeus.
FOR WE ARE INDEED HIS OFFSPRING... (Phaenomena 1-5)
Acts 17:26-28
26And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth,
and hath determined the times before appointed, and bounds of their habitation;
27That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him,
though he be not far from every one of us: 28 FOR IN HIM WE LIVE, AND MOVE, AND HAVE OUR
BEING; AS CERTAIN ALSO OF YOUR OWN POETS HAVE SAID, FOR WE ARE ALSO HIS OFFSPRING.
(again caps mine for emphasis)
I just wanted to say thank you for your video. As a youth pastor myself it was good to hear someone speak frankly and boldly about the junk that Rational Response is trying to pollute our young people's minds with. So thank you!
